All About Gluten Free Vodka

It is difficult to find gluten-free vodka. If you search online, however, you will see that there are more options than ever before. Below, you will find a list of the gluten-free liquors (and brands) which are available to you today.

It seems that there are a lot of companies out there that are claiming that they have a gluten-free version of their popular grapefruit juice or orange juice. But remember, any gluten-free vodka is still going to be made with gluten (even if it claims to be gluten free).

One brand that is making a significant comeback in the North Carolina vodka category is Wheatgrass. The reason I like Wheatgrass so much is because it is made entirely with wheat berries. This eliminates the need for barley. For someone who has issues with digestion, this is a great way to enjoy a delicious alcoholic drink without digestive problems!

There are a few other brands available that are based on corn. All of these gluten-free liquors are packaged in a similar fashion, using stainless steel or polyethylene terephthalate plastic, and are usually found in the same place as regular alcohols. They most commonly come in one of the common flavors (white, apple, blueberry, cherry), but there are options if you want them in different flavors as well.

The ingredients of craft vodka vary from brand to brand. The most common gluten ingredients are rye, barley, oats, wheat, and coconut. A couple other ingredients that are sometimes seen in gluten-free drinks are rice bran oil, corn, and sorghum. Some companies don't use any gluten ingredients at all in their distilled products, but they are not available in every state. As always with "gluten free," do some research before purchasing any product and reading labels very carefully. If you are having trouble locating gluten-free distilled beverages, you might try a website that sells only 100% gluten free items or contact a gluten intolerance center to order from.

While the market for gluten-free liquors is growing, many of the distillers are not available. Some distillers have had to stop selling some of their lines due to the cost of producing them in the States. Luckily, there are still plenty of Gluten Free Vodka and other specialty vodkas out there! If you have a preference for a less alcoholic flavor or just don't care for gluten, you should be able to find a brand of distilled alcohol that is acceptable to you.
